We've had our wallet digging feature online for a while now, and we've been able to dig the clams in 111 BTC, LTC, and/or DOGE addresses from our users' wallets. To ensure that our service is operating at 100%, we've opened a $1000 Bitcoin bounty if you use our service and we don't dig 100% of your addresses! See this thread for details: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1919631
We've recently launched our wallet digging feature! It works a lot like regular digging, but instead of giving us your address, you upload your BTC, LTC, or DOGE wallet and we scan it for eligible keys. If we find any, we dig them for you.
After we dig all your eligible keys - or find out that you have none - we delete your wallet file from our server. You can view the progress of this entire process on your wallet's page, which you'll see after uploading your wallet.
We are proud to announce that we have launched a new way for our users to earn free BTC from empty Bitcoin, Litecoin and Dogecoin addresses that were in use on May 12, 2014. Check to see if your address qualifies over at https://freebitcoins.com/clamchecker/. The first address that uses this new service will be sent a complimentary 0.01 BTC to their payout address!
Our affiliate system is also tied into this service as well. Affiliates will be paid 0.10545574 CLAM per address dug. Please see the FAQ for more details and happy digging!
We've just changed how things work regarding daily (100x) payouts.
Daily (100x) payouts are no longer available without the use of an "access code." A daily payout access code can be used to permanently unlock daily payouts for one address. We're currently brainstorming about the best way to distribute access codes to our users. Please bear with us in the meantime.
If you have an access code, you can redeem it on your address's page here at FreeBitcoins.com. Once you've redeemed an access code, you can get daily payouts to your address at any point in the future. Access codes do not expire.
We've updated the rules for our referral program. The updated rules can be found on the Referral Program page, but here are the highlights:
- Commission is now 100% instead of 10%.
- Referrals are now permanent after someone requests a tip with your referral link.
- If someone does not request a tip with your referral link, it wears off after 90 days.
- The last referral link that someone clicked is used to determine their referrer when they first request a tip.
This means that referrers get more rewards, so enjoy!
We now have a referral program! The details are at https://freebitcoins.com/referral/ - but we'll go over them briefly here.
Referrals are based on addresses, so no accounts are necessary. You can refer someone to any page on this site and we'll know that you sent them (see the Referral Program page for instructions). Whenever someone you referred gets a tip, you also get a 10% commission. You receive commission at the same time they receive their tip, so there's absolutely no waiting. After they click your referral link, you receive commission for someone's tips for 90 days.
Like always, we've aimed to make this as transparent as possible. You can see the referrals for an address on the same page you see its tip requests and payouts on. Check out the Stats page for data on how many referrals there are, and who is referring the most!
You may have noticed that we sometimes give a bonus to certain tip requests. We call this the "milestone bonus" - and we treat it like a small celebration of our continued growth. The milestone bonus multiplies the amount of Clamcoins that would normally be paid out for a tip request. As of today, we've increased our milestone bonuses:
- Every thousandth tip request gets a 5x bonus.
- Every ten-thousandth tip request gets a 10x bonus.
- Every hundred-thousandth tip request gets a 100x bonus.
- Every millionth tip request gets a 1000x bonus.
So, for example, if your daily (100x) payout happens to be our hundred-thousandth tip request, you'll get a whole CLAM!
The ClamSpeeches used in donations to the faucet are randomly chosen to be used in payout transactions. As of payout #9000, we've been tracking which donations are "promoted" this way in each payout. Now, you can see how many times each donation has been promoted via the Donate page.
Each donation also has its own page which displays the payouts that have promoted it. Just click on a donation's ClamSpeech on the Donate page to see details about it. The list of promoting payouts will automatically update, so you can watch as a donation is promoted. Donations of higher amounts are promoted more frequently than others.*
- Shortly before this update, we fixed a bug in the donation-choosing algorithm which caused donations of lower amounts to be promoted more frequently instead. We hope that this error caused more joy than sorrow.
This is our first news update. In the future, we'll be using this to tell everyone about new stuff.
You won't have to check the News page to keep up, though. We'll show the latest news item on the front page for a while after adding it.
